Juniper (Upright) - Blue Arrow

Finally, there is an upright, fast-growing evergreen that can offer the same beauty as a cedar with the drought tolerance and versatility that the cedar could only dream of. Enter the Rocky Mountain Blue Arrow Upright Juniper. We have been planting these trees in St. Paul for 5 years now and have found that they are bulletproof in our winters with the proper care. Considering St. Paul gets much colder than Edmonton, the city plantings should be quite a bit easier on them. You can have that Italy countryside style look with this slick Juniper. The shape stays tight and no pruning is required. Hedges are a great application for this tight columnar tree but you can also have it as a standalone feature in a small front yard. Care Instructions: Water the Blue Arrow Juniper thoroughly the first two summers especially when dry. Slow drip from the hose to ensure adequate moisture down into the roots. Trees will benefit from mulch bowls around them. Upright junipers will become significantly more drought tolerant every summer after establishing themselves but additional water during severe droughts will ensure the best performance.
Blue Arrow Juniper — The Italian Column 🌲
Finally, a vertical evergreen that delivers. The Blue Arrow Juniper (Juniperus scopulorum 'Blue Arrow') gives you a tall, narrow, perfectly sculpted look without cedar headaches. Tight. Clean. Locked in. No pruning. No fluff. Just sharp vertical structure you can rely on.
Cool blue-green needles hold all year, adding contrast and depth in every season. Line them up for a modern hedge or plant solo for a statement piece.
