This rare and new green-leaf columnar tree, is a fantastic alternative to the Swedish aspen trees which are found on every corner in Edmonton and are currently being killed off. The Green Wall Crabapple will only grow half of the height that the Swedish Aspen grows which will make it fit into most home landscapes much nicer than the Aspen. Jeffries Nurseries from Manitoba created this tree and it is one of the hardiest on the prairies so you will not have to guess whether our winters will kill it off. It can grow at a moderate pace and handle all types of soils. The crabapples also make very little mess as they produce such small fruit in small quantities.

In spring, the green wall crabapple will be covered in fragrant, white flowers and come fall time, the leaves will stay on the tree until well into October which is a welcome sight when so many other trees are dropping off much earlier.

Growing Requirements in Alberta: This is one of the easiest trees to grow in Alberta and it will not require any special care. Water well during the first couple of summers and fertilizer when looking for extra growth. The tree is happy with all types of soils and can handle sun or part shade.
