Growing the Yucca Filamensota 'Adam's Needle' in central Alberta started as a pet project for our company. We had no clue what the outcome would be but this plant has been extremely hardy. The plant keeps green leaves all year but they stiffen up in the winter and soften in spring when the temperature warms. It has been in the ground for multiple years and flowered last year after taking a winter with -45c lows and no snow cover here in St. Paul zone 2! This yucca should do fantastic in Edmonton where the lows of the winter are normally much warmer. Snow cover is a massive help if you do not want any burn on the edges of the leaves but it has survived fine without snow.

The Yucca Filamenosta is the perfect xeriscape plant that needs almost zero water after it is established.

Growing instructions: Dig a hole an extra 6 inches deep and fill it with 3/4" rock so the roots will not rot in the winter. You can use rock and topsoil mixed to fill around the plant. Do not overwater! The Yucca Filamentosa will do great when you set it and forget it after the first month or two of watering.

Mature Size: 3.5ft x 3.5ft
